IME 26
The IME 26 was released in 1967 as a reduced cost version of the IME 86. It was based on the same hardware as the IME 86 and to achieve the reduced cost it had:

  • 12 digits of capacity (reduced from 16)
  • one memory (reduced from four)
  • simplified user interface (switch selectable fixed decimal point)
  • four functions only (no square root)
  • no interface capability

When one considers that the price of an IME 86 in 1967 was somewhat more than the price of a VW Beetle car, it is clear that there would have been a lower cost market available.

The operation of the IME 26 was essentially the same as the IME 86.
